She Persists is a blog committed to elevating the voices of young artists, writers and creators who seek to add to an important dialogue about gender, sexuality and politics

Gabrielle Mikhail is the founder of She Persists. She is an Egyptian American, Cisgender, middle class female. She is a junior at the Orange County School of the Arts where she is in the Creative Writing conservatory.
An avid screenwriter, short story writer and essayist, she enjoys writing about topics that deal with the complexities of gender and sexuality and the way these topics intersect with politics, economics and history. Her sophomore year she was named screenwriter of the year and she was recently awarded essayist of the year as a junior. She is currently working on a film project in partnership with the Dragon Kim Foundation that seeks to give a voice to young female film makers.
